Now Everyone Can Sell Online

No, not the blogshop. Neowave - one of the major e-commerce software vendors in Malaysia, has just introduced webShaper bizStore, which modeled upon Software as a Service (SaaS).

This is an interesting development of local software companies adapting SaaS model to deliver their products or services over the web.

webShaper bizStore promotion

Taking advantage of SaaS (multi-tenant architecture), potential sellers need only to pay RM 199 monthly (current promotion price at RM 150) to setup a online shop with their own branded domain name.

As comparison, Neowave's existing flagship product - webShaper e-commerce is available for USD 799 per license (single website) and you still need to fork out more than RM 100 monthly for domain and hosting fees.

Of course, you might argue that webShaper e-commerce might have more features, among other things, than its SaaS version. But, webShaper bizStore is hassle-free in terms of implementation plus continuous software maintenance and new features update. This seems to be a more viable option for blogshop-turns-professional and SMBs.

Let's keep an eye on whether SaaS for e-commerce will contribute on stimulating e-commerce growth in Malaysia, after the Air Asia's wave.

wong. mudah also does not accept commercial posting (pro sellers or biz) yet. so it's more like a c2c marketplace.

As far as how i determine e-commerce, it gonna involve "real time transaction".

Hi Adrian, I concur with your opinion here.

By the way, I have just checked out your miniStore, it looks great! Mind telling us how many merchants have you signed up? :p

On a more serious note, do you plan to have a shopping mall / portal aggregating all your merchants and their products?

Mudah is certainly rising fast here, but it is more of an e-marketplace. That's why I don't include Mudah as one of the e-commerce players here.
Hi Adrian, thanks for the clarification...

It is always great to see local players like Neowave engaging conversation with the public through blogosphere.

Looking forward to check out your miniStore as well, all the best!

hi ck, we will do out best. :)
For blogshop turn professional store, i actually recommend them to try selling on ebay / lelong etc to get a hang of the process in place. And once they setup their own branded store, normally they can do pretty well as they already have an existing list of customer base! (same apply for any existing business which have a list of customers)

Also soon we will launch a low cost e-commerce store (inspired by AirAsia) dubbed the webShaper miniStore - You can start selling on your own store from as low as RM1 per day!
hi ck, am adrian, co-founder of neowave. thanks for the post. and Yes, you hit it right on, this is our virgin venture into SAAS (still at early statge, learning).

As customers grow, they demand more in terms of features + biz support + maintenance, this is where bizStore comes in - it plus a bunch of value add services eg the Google app for domain tied up. So for serious long term biz, it's actually much more cost effective engaging in webShaper bizStore.

Just to correct, actually the webShaper bizStore will always enjoy the latest (and have more stuffs) than the licensed one. And merchants can be worry free counting on us for their store platform.
